Re: Petition letter to expedite the appointment of the new member of Board Examiners for Social Work Licensure Examination
Dear Mr. President:
Greetings!
We are writing in behalf of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Batch 2016 graduates who filed to take the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board Licensure Examination for Social Workers (BLESW) last July 28-29, 2016. The said examination was indefinitely postponed under PRC Resolution No. 2016-991 (see annex “A”) after the irrevocable resignation of Board Member Hon. Jesus S. Far last June 1, 2016, rendering the board without the required legal quorum. The postponement of the exam was only formally published in the PRC website last July 18, 2016, a week before the supposed examination dates without formal communication with state universities and colleges offering BS Social Work. This has brought immense emotional, psychological, mental and financial distress among social work graduates and their parents, given that many of the graduates enrolled for review classes in preparation for the exam. It is already four months since the postponement yet there is still no official information about the new schedule of the BLESW, neither about the appointment of the new member of the board examiners and the actions done to hold the involved persons accountable for negligence of duty.
The series of events already affected the graduates from getting better jobs since many agencies in need of social workers require them to be registered under PRC. In this matter, we ask for the help of your good office in carrying the necessary actions to expedite the appointment of the new member of Board Examiners for BLESW and the eventual rescheduling of the examination through PRC. We ask that the new schedule of the BLESW be officially announced with at least a month and a half interval before the actual examination. Furthermore we would like to emphasize that the schedule of the new BLESW for batch 2016 shoud be separated from the next batch to provide fairness for all takers. We, as future social workers are with you in fostering the positive development of our nation. Thank you and God bless your administration!
