The Armed Forces of the Philippines still can't seem to get guidelines to lead watches in the Benham Rise in spite of worry over the section of a Chinese vessel in the zone east of Luzon, a military representative said on Tuesday.
Col. Edgard Arevalo, head of the AFP Public Affairs Office, demonstrated that the BRP Gregorio Velasquez is prepared for sending if the nation's non military personnel pioneers would arrange watch and review in the territory.
"As to our guidelines, up to now wala dad tayong directions na narereceive mula sa ating Department of National Defense and the Office of the President for us to lead watches," Arevalo told correspondents.
He said the PNP was prepared to attempt its order to guard the Constitution, the nation's domains, and power.
"Be that as it may, we would, obviously, concede this choice to our political authority sapagkat yung Armed Forces po natin is an expansion of national arrangement, hindi po tayo ang approach producer, hindi po tayo ang leader," Arevalo said.
"Your Armed Forces is prepared to leave on any mission relating to our command which is to secure our regional honesty and power," he included.
BRP Gregorio Velasquez is the previous Research Vessel (R/V) Melville of the US Navy.
It is currently the Philippine Navy's first oceanographic look into vessel after it was swung over to the Philippine government a year ago.
"I think it is operational and the individuals from the endeavor group that once led 'yung consider na ginawa sa Benham Rise recognizes na ang Philippine Navy has the capacity particularly 'yung barko na 'yun to do oceanic research," Arevalo said.
"With all likelihood (iyan ang magagamit) sapagkat 'yung barko nating 'yan ang may capacity at s'ya ang merong order or kakayahan na madeploy for that reason," he included.
Barrier Secretary Delfin Lorenzana prior said that a Chinese review ship was seen at the Benham Rise for three months a year ago.
